Scope and Contents
'Waterways and Green Spaces: Earth Day, East of the River' focused on measures taken to address threats to the natural environment of Washington D.C.'s east of the river community. The discussion included 'The Life of the Anacostia River' by Jim Connelly from the Anacostia Watershed Society, and 'Preserving Fort Circle Parks' by Steven Syphax from the National Park Service. Question and answer session followed the presentation. Panelists also included Dennis Chestnut from the Watts Branch Community Alliance and Todd Lieberman from City Interest. The program was held in collaboration with the Sierra Club and Ward 8 Environmental Council, and held in conjunction with Anacostia Community Museum's exhibition 'East of the River: Continuity and Change.'
