Planned Giving
There are
many opportunities for individuals to support the Anacostia Community Museum.
Why not think ahead and make arrangements for a legacy gift with the support
of bequests, large and small, or through other planned giving vehicles. Planned
gifts help fund a variety of essential projects at the Museum, including special
exhibitions, research, and scholarly publications; and collections preservation
and acquisitions; as well as education and public programming.
Making a planned gift, such as including a bequest to the Museum in your will,
or naming ACM as the beneficiary of a charitable remainder trust, of a life
insurance policy, or of your retirement fund, will make a difference for the
Museum's future. Planned gifts can also benefit you financially, offering
significant tax advantages for you and, in some cases, providing income for
you or your chosen beneficiary for life.
Types of planned gifts include:
• Legacy or Estate Gifts enable you to benefit the
Anacostia Community Museum in your will or living trust; this can be especially
useful for individuals who cannot currently make large gifts. Gifts of life
insurance and retirement benefits will support ACM when you name the Museum
as beneficiary of the remainder of your pension plan, 401(k), or IRA.
• Life Income Gifts allow you to make a charitable
gift now, while still providing for yourself and/or your selected beneficiaries.
Examples of include charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities,
charitable lead trusts, or deferred payment gift annuities.
• Other planned giving considerations may include gifts
of cash, securities, gifts to the permanent collection, or real estate.
The Anacostia Community Museum recommends that you discuss your gift plans
with your own legal and financial advisors. Members of the Smithsonian staff
will be happy to work with you and your advisors to ensure that your gift
meets your goals and the Museum's needs. Please help ACM with its planning,
and allow us to show you our appreciation by letting us know once you have
incorporated the Museum into your estate plans.
